AVAD LLC launched the Dealer to Builder (D2B) educational program at the Electronic House Expo, Fall 2003 in Long Beach, CA. During two days of the Expo, D2B program leaders presented show attendees with an overview of the program's goals, while the first courses in the program's training schedule took place. D2B was created to provide a smooth service channel between AVAD's nationwide pool of electronic systems contractors and new homebuilders looking to expand their offering through home technology.
"The Electronic House Expo was the right venue to begin Dealer to Builder training," said Joe Piccirilli, managing director of AVAD. "Our dealers are now preparing to meet the constantly growing demand among new home buyers for cutting-edge, benefits-driven technology. Countless builders want to offer integrated systems like home theater, whole-house music and central vacuum. Their challenge lies in finding reliable contractors who can access the highest quality products, make them easy to use and attractive within a particular home d?cor
. AVAD's D2B program links new home builders with nearby D2B-certified electronic systems contractors trained to handle all builder-specific needs."
The Dealer to Builder program starts with a comprehensive training agenda that certifies AVAD's contractors in the design and installation of sound electronic systems in seven categories: home theater, multi-room audio/video, custom-controlled lighting, structured wiring, central vacuum, phone systems and home networking. Training also covers the unique considerations of maintaining an effective and profitable relationship with new homebuilders. At EHX Fall 2003, AVAD contractors underwent courses covering how to work with builders, home theater and multi-room audio/video design and installation.
Piccirilli continued, "The next step for D2B is its introduction to builders at the International Builders' Show in January, 2004. By then, many more AVAD contractors will be in the process of becoming the builder's answer for technology needs." AVAD's IBS 2004 introduction will present builders with an overview of D2B, and illustrate the program's builder-oriented benefits, while gathering information from those interested in learning more. IBS 2004 is scheduled for January 19-22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
